Responsibilities
Technology & Architecture Leadership
- Define and drive the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap to support Spidr’s long-term growth and scalability.
- Lead the design and development of a secure, high-performance financial infrastructure, ensuring system reliability, resilience, and maintainability.
- Champion best practices in software engineering, including CI/CD, automated testing, and cloud-native development.
- Oversee technical decisions on backend (Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and frontend (React) stacks while optimizing system performance.
Engineering Management & Execution
- Scale and manage a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Implement and refine engineering processes, balancing agility and rigor to ensure timely, high-quality product delivery.
- Drive a data-driven approach to engineering decisions, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs.
- Establish security and compliance best practices, particularly in regulated fintech environments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Strategy
- Partner closely with Product, Design, and Business teams to align technical execution with company objectives and market demands.
- Act as a key voice in company-wide strategic initiatives, helping define priorities, timelines, and trade-offs.
- Represent engineering in executive discussions, effectively communicating technical challenges and opportunities to stakeholders.
- Drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and strategic partnerships that enhance Spidr’s platform capabilities.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 4+ years in engineering leadership (Director, VP, or equivalent).
- Proven track record of scaling engineering teams in high-growth startups or enterprise SaaS environments.
- Deep expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and AWS/Kubernetes, with strong architectural experience in distributed systems.
- Experience leading mission-critical, high-availability platforms, preferably in fintech, payments, or regulated industries.
- Strong security and compliance background, with knowledge of SOC 2, PCI DSS, or other regulatory frameworks.
- Exceptional ability to attract, mentor, and retain top engineering talent, fostering a culture of ownership and accountability.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Go-to-Market teams to align engineering efforts with business objectives.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of presenting technical strategy to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Location & Travel
- Open to remote candidates or Charlotte, NC.
- Ability to travel quarterly for in-person strategy sessions and team collaboration.
